The Liberty Caucus exists as a haven for our government's rational, bipartisan, approach to the problems facing our nation. Through the Liberty Caucus its members put partisan politics aside and place the security and prosperity of Liberty in the forefront. As Democrats and Republicans together, the Liberty Caucus will be a voice of non-partisan consensus that addresses the concerns of our nation rather than the stalemating process of partisan politics.

More About Me

Liberty4u is considering making a rentry into U4Prez.  Any interested parties should leave comments in the L4U comment section.

******

Liberty4U originated in the spring of 2007.  It was created by Kempite and it was the first caucus created on u4prez.

Kempite's intended purpose was to gather five view points from the left and five from the right in order to hammer out legislative solutions that could be presented to the U4prez community at large for debate and approval.

The goal was to help demonstrate how although it is difficult to produce effective and meaningful legislation through a process that requires compromise, it could be done, even on u4prez.

On U4prez the debate always continue.  No suggested solution goes without an opposing view thrown at it. That is fine, but how do you come up with a solution that, if it doesn't please everyone, at least it solves the addressed problems.

The very first measure that Liberty4U tackled was a same sex marriage compromise which was also actually the very first issue that the entire u4prez community took on during its infancy.

The second issue Liberty4u tackled was immigration and border security.

After weeks of deliberatons, members reached a consensus and endorsed their own version of a Kempite inspired bill entitled Open Arms-Secure Borders.  That bill can be viewed by clicking here . Kempite's original OASB proposal can be viewed here.

In the months to follow, Liberty4U addressed several other issues such as tax reform and energy.  Through it all, members of the Liberty caucus came to get to know one another and to also better understand their approach to the issues.

As is the case with all trailblazers, members of Liberty4U were often criticized. Yet in the months that follwed the introduction of the Liberty caucus, a new trend began and individual U4prez candidates joined together in the creation of other caucuses. There was a Gay-Straight Alliance created, a veterans caucus, a young adults council and an equal rights caucus were started.  Each caucus served as a place for focused discussion on a specific issue or cause and a headquarters for member's to  organize actitivity and strategy for thier cause.

The introduction of Liberty4U and its popularity eventually evolved into the current U4prez platform for caucuses that exists today.

After months of intense debate and work, the founders of Liberty4U began to tire and slowly lost the will to continue with the amount of time required to maintain Liberty4U and the level of intense debate involved with it as well as the constant effort required to promote the compromises reached in the face of the intense scrutiny that surrounded it.  As such, Liberty4U eventually went dormant.

Before its inactive days, Liberty4U and its members did however achieve the intended goals.  It helped shed light on the issues and their solutions.  The numerous members that participated in Liberty4U worked hard to convey their heartfelt opinions and they worked even harder to reach compromise, and they did it together, as liberals and conservatives.  It was never easy and some debates took longer than others, but the collective will of its members helped to deliver a product,....a solution to some of our problems.

For those dedicated to Liberty4U, the process helped to prove that producing a solution to problems in a democracy is not easy.  Differences of opinion and strongly held beliefs often make reaching a compromise agreement quite hard.

And just like the results of the negotiated legislation that comes out of our government, the initiatives produced by Liberty4U had both supporters and detractors.  But those involved in reaching the compromise solutions that Liberty4U presented had something more.  They had developed an understanding for both sides of the issues and a respect for one another regardless of affiliation or opinion.  The members of Liberty4u had a better understanding and knowledge of the issue after the debate than they did before the debate.

Time may hold a place for the reactivation of this caucus. Some of its former members may wish to rekindle the think tank like enviornment that its members onced shared with eachother. New candidates may seek to undertake their own version of Liberty4U for the U4prez community.  Either way, this platform serves as the first of its kind on U4prez and it served some purposes.  It helped bring people together to discuss and sort through issues and it helped to shape the modern version of U4prez.

The following is the press release that introduced Liberty4U to U4prez.

It was the very first entry made in the comments section of the new forum.  At the time, very few candidates used press releases on U4prez and, at the time, the Press Release section of U4prez did not yet exist.

***NEW CAUCUS INTRODUCED INTO THE FRAY - LIBERTY4U IS HERE!***

---For Immediate Release---

Candidates within the u4prez community have banded together in the form of a new caucus. The newly launched LIBERTY CAUCUS is a bipartisan group of candidates that allows for the politics of their individual campaigns to be put aside when it comes to the formulation of rational compromises that focus on advancing Americas agenda.

Comprised of Democrats and Republicans and Independents alike, The LIBERTY CAUCUS exists as a haven for our governments rational, bipartisan, approach to the problems facing our nation. Through The LIBERTY CAUCUS it members put partisan politics aside and place the security and prosperity of liberty in the forefront. As Democrats and Republicans, together, The LIBERTY CAUCUS will be a voice of non-partisan consensus that addresses the concerns of our nation rather than the often stalemating process of partisan politics.

The LIBERTY CAUCUS is proud to introduce itself into the u4prez community with its platform organized within the ranks of the Independent candidates category under the name Liberty4u.

Those who have joined together to comprise The LIBERTY CAUCUS are as follows. Hawk, Zcroft, Mduminiak, Grantman, , Buckeyekid, Erock, Smashey, JohnnyMars Bluproject, and Kempite. In a joint statement interim Co-Chairmen Buckeyekid (D,Oh) and Kempite (R, NJ) expressed enthusiasm for the newly created LIBERTY CAUCUS.

According to Buckeyekid and Kempite, “The LIBERTY CAUCUS will be a strong advocate for that which helps to promote the ideas and approaches that strengthen our nation. Together, with partisan politics put aside, we will hammer out and push the policy compromises most worthy of implementation.

All those who particpated in Liberty4U were crucial to its success but one of the most important contributors to the success of Liberty4U was Mduminiak

Mduminiak dedicated his time and expertise to creating the original platform for Liberty4u and also organized many of the final legislative drafts that were presented to the general U4prez population.  This was done in addition to his large contribution to the debates Liberty4U engaged in.  His infusion of ideas, facts and suggested compromise often helped to create the final product.

But it was the collective participation of all those who served as members of Liberty4U at different times, during its original days of activity that accounted for Liberty4U's prominence on U4prez..

A set of bylaws, hammered out by the original members of the caucus, guided the formal procedures of Liberty4U.  Those procedures included the nomination and election process of officers and new members to fill any vacancy that opened up among the ten members.

The following is a list of U4prez candidates whom, at one point or another, comprised the membership of Liberty4U:

What I Would Do As President

Liberty4U is a caucus dedicated to uniting U4prez candidates for the purpose of producing bipartisan legislative solutions to the issues of the day.  It was the first caucus ever created on U4prez.  It was composed of 10 U4Prez candidates split evenly between liberals and conservatives. It was run by co-chairs, one from each ideological group. Policies were proposed and debated within the Caucus and those receiving a majority vote, when a quorum of at least three from each ideological group were present, were adopted and offered to the U4Prez community and the world in the spirit of non-partisanship.

Liberty4u was a caucus with meaning.  It had a purpose and it started a proliferation of caucuses on u4prez that eventually evolved into the present day platform for caucuses that exists on U4prez.

Sadly, the creation of caucuses is a privilege that has been abused. Some create caucuses as a joke. Some create them to belittle others. It is a process that is disturbing.

Liberty4U was not only a first on U4prez, it was an example for U4prez. Its members were committed to the goals set forth by Liberty4u. They took it seriously and never used the caucus as a tool for any means others than its stated purpose….the creation of bipartisan solutions to our nations problems and the issues at hand.
