More About Me

The United States, was founded on the idea of federalism. The idea that we have a government where the power is divided between three levels of government: national, state and local. This system is awesome, to say the least, it allows more people to get involved in our government. Furthermore, the closer the levels of government are to the people, the more likely they are going to know what is best for their local area.
"A government that is big enough to do everything for you, is powerful enough to do anything to you." - Fred Thompson

What I Would Do As President
|
|
My Plan for America:
Immigration: I believe that the United States is a nation of immigrants however, being a nation we have immigration laws that must be followed just any other laws would be followed. Furthermore, illegal immigration goes beyond just being a law it is a burden to our citizens. One cause of the current financial situation is we had large corporations that continued to give loans to people who could not afford them and some of which had no proof of being a resident of the United States. It would be a foolish idea to think that we would be able to kick out all 20,000,000 or so illegal immigrants. We need to stop the problem where it starts, the border we need the fence but we need actual man power on the border. I do not support shooting on sight, however if situations do not improve then that may be a measure to take.
Government Spending: It is time that we return to fiscal responsibility, we cannot allow the government to spend anymore more money that we do not have. We need to minimize pork-barrel spending. This goes back to the idea of federalism, we have state and local governments so they may better provide for their particular citizens. There may be some things that are out side the state's budget and those projects should be dealt with accordingly. Here lately we seem to think that the solution to our problems is to throw money at it, however that is not the case on every single problem. We need to go through all government programs and agencies and find all the small and large problems. Whether it be people stealing money, or spending $500 on a toilet seat. I think that we need to shop at the Dollar Store, that will give the government an idea of how every day Americans feel.
Line-Item veto: I support the line-item veto on appropriation bills only, as I have said we have to bring our government and their big-dollar spending under control.
Elections: I believe that we should no longer hold presidential elections. Instead each party should put together a football team and whoever wins the game will be the president. This way the process for picking the president will only be one night (no more 2 year election cycles), no more "Florida" recounts and the process will be a lot more exciting... lol.
2nd Amendment: If the constitution says something, then that is exactly what it meant. When the founding fathers said the "right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed" then the people have the right to own arms.
Marriage: I believe that all marriages through the government are illegal. I advocate the overhaul of the whole marriage system. If two people wish to get married they need to find a church that will marry them. If two people cannot find a church to marry them then they may go to the government and obtain a civil union.
Energy: America is addicted to foreign oil. We have to find a solution and we have to find a solution now. Drilling in the United States is vital to finding this solution, we all know that it will not solve the whole problem but it will knock a part of the problem. We need to build safe nuclear power plants (plus with nuclear power plants comes more jobs). Wind energy, I live in the Texas Panhandle and the only thing we have more than wind is cows. So logic would suggest put that wind to good use, power our homes with it power our towns with it!
Foreign Policy: We need to stop sending our money over seas. I believe we need to speak with our enemies and solve our problems. How can we expect to solve a problem in silence?
Supreme Court: The Supreme court is a constitutional court, not a "personal opinion" court. Therefore, it should be treated as such and people should be appointed who feel the same way. I do not support having a litmus test performed on my judicial nominees. Furthermore, we should not have judges who have "empathy" that is not what they are for. If we were playing a game or sport, we would not want an umpire or a referee who has empathy towards the other team.
The First Amendment: The rights to free speech, press, religion, assembly and petition are rights guaranteed to all Americans. The government has no business deciding what can go on a radio station or on a TV station.
The Death Penalty: The Government has no business deciding the life or death of people. Studies have showed that death penalty actually costs more money than prison.
The Environment: I'm not
denying the idea of increased temperatures I deny the idea that man kind
is some how responsible for this(when there is legitimate scientific
research to counter this argument.) See here's what happened, the planet
earth has seen at least five major ice-ages in the it's history and the
earth has came out of each one without the effects of SUV's and mean
and nasty conservatives. Thus, the earth moves in cycles of heating and
cooling. Prior to our most recent ice age the greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere dropped causing the earth to cool. I'm almost positive the
drop in greenhouse gases was not because the dinosaurs stopped driving
cars and shut down factories(just a guess.) I believe it is important
for us to clean up the earth not because I'm scared of melting but,
because it is gross and it does affect wildlife.
More coming soon...
