Whats Good For The Goose?

Protests at town hall meetings. Legislators being booed off the stage. Constituents being locked out. Union thugs assaulting people on the street. The government asking for 'fishy' information to be reported to them, etc. etc. Hard to believe that this is happening in the United States of America but it is as the debate on healthcare heats up.

There have been many arguments for and against the Presidents healthcare reform plan that is attempting to move through congress and I will not even attempt to list them all here. One thing I will do however is ask questions when breaking down the who, what, where and why of an issue.

There is so much information out there from people who haven't read the bill (the President included) that I have come up with a litmus test for the effectivness of the Presidents plan: Will Congress vote to subject themselves to the same healthcare plan they are trying to pass for us? I think it is a fair question and the ultimate litmus test on the true effectivness of the system they are proposing. Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) feels the same way and has proposed an ammendment that will do just that.

The ammendment passed out of the Senate Health Committee and supported by such Democrat Senators as Chris Dodd (D-CN), Ted Kennedy(D-MA) and Barbara Mikulski(D-MD)will have to be merged with another committees bill where most analysts believe it may not survive. They also believe that if it does, it will survive as a watered down ammendment with loopholes that would allow most legislators to avoid the requirement.

I guess that is to be seen but we must use this ammendment as the litmus test for any plan that comes up for a vote and may be put on the backs of the American people. If the government doesn't want to be a part of thier own plan should we believe it is the best option? Whats good for the goose should be good for the gander. If our legislators don't believe the plan is good enough to put thier own care in it's hands then why should we be subjected to it as well?

Time will tell if our government decides to subject itself to the same plans it wants to bind us to. I ask that we all keep an eye on this ammendment to see if it makes it to the final draft. If it does not ask yourself this - Why not?

Imagine the Clintons tried UHC back in the 90s and the nation said no no no no no. Doctors even say no. Is dennis a doctor? Nope. Ron Paul is. So I would rather listen to a Doctor then a quack.
If Democrats properly explained the house healthcare plan, they would be gone in 2010 just for suggesting it.
to "expalin" Obama`s crappy health care plan?
If we could get a few more liberals with balls like Dennis Kucinich to properly argue healthcare, it would pass in a landslide. Until then, we'll let pragmatic moderates who can't accomplish anything, and flat earther conservatives that don't know anything kill healthcare. I guarant-fucking-tee 99% of conseravtive citizens cannot begin to expalin what Obama's healthcare bill, Kucinich's healthcare bill, or any other healthcare bills actually say.
Don't forget to e-mail flag@whitehouse.gov and ask for your free flag!
I agree with you Smashey but I think the blue dogs got the mandatory part dropped out of the bill.
There is no argument for not being willing to take what you want to force upon others.
Well I think the argument is that they would have the option to take it or stick with private charity. But I agree with you it seems to me one thing for the leaders and one for us.
Then any one single American that supports it is a flat idiot. If they don't want it for themselves, they shouldn't want it for us. And we should take that fact, if they don't take it, as proof that maybe it isn't the best program for the country.
I don't know that it will be from the sound of things.
If this ammendment isn't in the final bill, be afraid. Be very afraid.
