Core Beliefs: The Erock Smashey Ticket

These are the core beliefs from which the Erock/Smashey campaign will operate. They are beliefs that promote freedom, prosperity and choice. They are based on constitutional values, personal freedom and opportunity.

We will be writing blogs throughout the week detailing each of the core beliefs outlined below. Please feel free to question, advocate or debate any of them as the election winds on. We will be happy to entertain any debate and speak to as why we feel our core beliefs will bring a happy, successful society.

1. Economic Responsibility: The Erock/Smashey campaign holds the belief that the only way to ensure economic prosperity for ours, as well as generations to come, is to end budget deficits, pay down debt, and balance the federal budget. Spending, borrowing and printing money has led to a devalued dollar, a huge debt and budget deficits that continue to grow. We believe that we cannot sustain this path. We believe that you cannot spend your way out of debt at home and that the government cannot operate that way either. We hold the belief that the United States government must live within it's fiscal means and not burden future generations with taxation that takes money out of the pocket of it's citizens, so it can continue to spend.

2. Taxes: Although no taxes would be the perfect scenario, we believe it to also be one that is unrealistic. With that in mind, the Erock/Smashey campaign holds the belief that a flat tax will put more money into the hands of the Americans that earned it. We believe this to be central to economic recovery. We also hold the belief that we need to repeal the death tax as well as the capital gains tax to spur investment and to not punish those who are willing to take the risks to invest in America. We also hold the belief that lower taxes for businesses means more investment in jobs. We believe in not punishing those who have gained success by burdening them with an unfair taxation. We believe in promoting success by allowing everyone to keep more of what they earn and spend it how they see fit.

3. Scope of Government: The Erock/Smashey campaign holds the belief in a small federal government as outlined in the Constitution of the United States. We believe that any power not specifically given the federal government in the Constitution is there by relegated to the individual states. We hold the belief that the federal beauracracy is outgrown it's means and that many government entities are un-necessary to the operation of the government.

4. The Constitution: The Erock/Smashey campaign holds the belief that the Constitution of the United States is a literal document not a living one. We believe that the founders designed the Constitution to protect the citizens of the United States from the very power they left behind to form our great nation. We hold the belief that if it is necessary to change our constitution or the literal meaning of it, there is an amendment process built in that allows us to do so. We do not believe in translating and legislating from the bench.

5. Freedom: The Erock/Smashey campaign believes that personal freedom is the greatest asset one can have. We hold close the belief that people make the best decisions for themselves. We believe that everyone should be allowed the utmost freedom to do as they wish as long as they are not infringing on the rights of others to do so. We believe that the individual has the power, not the government. We believe that everyone has an opportunity to succeed.

Thank you for taking the time to read the core beliefs of the Erock/Smashey campaign. We look forward to debating these issues throughout the election week. We will be posting blogs throughout the week detailing these beliefs. Thank you for your time and we welcome any and all debates.

And u clearly don't understand that we have laid out our ideas else were. This was starting point. U dont start with the walls of a house lol.
I didn't say you didn't have opinions on other issues, mduminiak. I said as erock on smashey say on this blog, they don't offer any ideas on actual issues. "Less taxes, smaller government" is a tag line, a talking point and a catch phrase. And further, mduminiak, if you think climate change doesn't need our help, you're delusional or ignorant of the facts. But I suppose you are someone to tell all the guys with the Ph. D.'s that they don't know what they're talking about. Climate change is not rocket science, but it is science. What are science and education now? Just left wing jargon?
As erock stated, we need to be good stewards of the environment. However the regulations laid out in the cap and trade bill will make little impact on the climate and much impact to the pocketbooks of every American. I agree with MD that Congress has the power to declare war and their delegation of that power to the executive branch is un-constitutional. On the domestic front I also agree that we need to return the power to the states regarding social programs so that they can be tailored to each region and demographic to work more efficiently. I also believe that we have an employment issue domestically that needs addressed through taxes and incentive to drive investment and production on a PERMANENT basis. The temporary band aid we have been trying to put on lately will not work long term. Putting money in the hands of Americans is MY top domestic issue.
Certainly we can be good stewards of the environment but we don't need a whole new slew of laws that will hurt the economy and lead to higher costs.
I'll answer your questions Chronic from my perspective as a limited government conservative. 1. Climate change doesn't need our help. 2. We should maintain strong alliances and be prepared to retaliate if we are attacked or threatened, but full scale military engagements should be undertaken only when the Congress declares war, not as multinational 'police actions'. 3. Domestic affairs should focus on the dismantling of the nanny state by transferring all social programs to the States over a 10 year period providing block grants on an annually declining rate equal to the length of time so that States can either choose to phase out the programs over that 10 year span or adjust their tax structure to provide for them over that period until complete control exists at the ten year mark. The goal is not the elimination of social programs, but rather the diversification of such programs so that States with different demographic needs can adjust the coverages based on those needs instead of a series of national 'one size fits none' programs that fail to meet the needs of the people.
Plus at least we are talking about issues at all.
When the main issue is unemployment at 10.2% what are people worried about? How to grow the economy.
Yes. It was just hypothetical. I keep hearing Republicans say "less taxes, smaler government." Ok...so why should I support you? What are you going to do about climate change? How will you handle foreign affairs? How are you going to handle domestic affairs? Less taxes and smaller government are basically just talking points. I don't see how a real candidate could win by saying they'll cut spending and decrease the size of government. There are many more issues than just those.
didnt u say u voted already yesterday???
Where are your plans for health care reform, climate change, and foreign relations? What can you offer me that other candidates cannot? I don't think a party can win on a platform of less taxes and smaller government. I need a real reason to support you. And to point 5, I assume your ticket supports ending any and all government laws that prohibit same-sex marriage.
I agree Smashey but seems like thats what they are good at.
And so far BD, your ticket hasn't been good for anything but attacking erock and getting numerous votes erased. Not hard to see who the best candidate is.
your core beliefs should be getting drunk and screaming at people on the Phone! at least that is wht you have proven to be good at.
I have no issue with that either. I think we can agree that we need a bette plan then we have now and thats why me and Smashey will fight for economic freedom.
How about instead we make sure that the poor have the funds to buy insurance and then let people be responsible and buy insurance. That's the whole purpose of insurance.
I'm just saying, if you make it so that insurance companies have to cover you no matter what, then I am going to drop my plan and not pick it up until I get sick or injured. Why would I waste money on insurance when I'm healthy?
well all my DVR is calling me- i will be back in a bit
If someone like me goes in after years of not being able to afford heatlhcare and I find out that I have cancer how is that okay??
If you can't be denied for a pre-existing condition, then you must mandate coverage. Otherwise someone can pay for insurance only when they are sick and premiums will sky-rocket.
yep and me and Smashey think being denied for a pre=existing condition is wrong.
That is an excellent question Wiz....The healthcare system in this country has horrible track records for how they treat women. Up until recently some companies didnt want to cover mamograms. there are still a few companies that will not cover birth control yet all cover viagra. some companies knocked women off for being raped b/c HIV tests are considered high risk behavior and many women were put on PTSD drugs to help them get through it- so they consider that a pre exsisting condition.
I have a question for the candidates. How come its easier to get and abortion than get health insurance if you have a pre existing condition. Ins't being pregnant a pre existing condition?
I believe that I admited a typing error Wiz. I meant to say "Education and fixing adoption and economic freedom would lower the abortion rate."
I think I better call it quits before I start alienating people :)
Oh ok. Dead poor babies. Thats cool.
Wiz, it means that killing your baby if you are poor is ok.
Erock- "Education and making aborbtion is the best answer and allowing people to afford to keep their babies by allowing greater economic freedom."....what the fuck does that mean?
By now this should go without saying, but I strongly condemn any position that does not recognize the most basic constitutional right to life for any innocent individual who has not enjoyed the due process of law. However, I recognize that the Erock ticket is probably the most pro-life of all three and that even the revolutionaries recognized that they could not win the revolution and civil war simultaneously. Shoot, even Thomas Jefferson owned slaves. Therefore, I will not withdraw my support from the Erock/Smashey ticket, despite their incredible oversight in the area of an unborn child's rights.
Sorry that should read "Education and making adoption easier"
I personally wish abortions would end but thats not going to happen. But it also shows the need for sex education in our schools to prevent unwanted pregancies and why parents need to talk to their kids about sex. That is the only realistically approach to ending abortions in this nation. If we ban them they will simply go under ground. Education and making aborbtion is the best answer and allowing people to afford to keep their babies by allowing greater economic freedom.
The second second sentence should be "should not be illegal"
It is my understanding, and they can correct me if I'm off. That they are both pro-choice so far as they do not think abortion should be illegal, but do understand that Roe was an overstep. But even without Roe, they would be pro choice as a state issue. They oppose taxpayer funding for it.
I would be interested to know that as well. Do you support an unborn baby's inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
"We do not believe in translating and legislating from the bench." This is by no means an attack- but aren't you guys kind of on the pro-choice side?? (which is a plus in my book) But Roe v Wade over stepped the the literal meaning of the constitution. I mean it fits in with the 5th section- personal freedoms and all. I am just wondering where you guys stand on the abortion debate.
Thanks Friday.
Thank you friday.
Already voted for you guys
yea Boo Boo would have dominated the ticket.
Thank you Boo Boo. You would have made a great VP had Erock not been jealous of your wit and charm. Luckily for me, he was. ;)
Thanks Boo Boo.
uuuuuhhhhhh..... Hawk said, Ditto
I would love to debate you on these core beliefs but I am afraid the debate would be a bit boring. These core beliefs mirror my own. I also LOVE the campaign slogan!
No problem.
If you really just did join today then thank you.
Thanks I am proud of our campaign and what it stands for.
I think you guys have some great ideas. I'm not going to vote in this election because I joined today and don't think it would be fair. Good luck guys. I hope you win this.
Also: Here is our campaign slogan: "We'd Rather Be Good Than Lucky!".
