THE EMPLOYEE INTIMIDATION ACT

kempite
I have held no punches when it comes to declaring my skepticism over our nations continued march in a socialist economic direction and some will argue that the march began not under President Obama but under President Bush when he proposed the first of the recent economic bailout packages. I for one will not defend the non-military related spending practices of President Bush, so I certainly wont defend President Obama against his overspending formulas and I certainly will not endorse any path to expedite our transition to socialism. But what of fascism?

It is a rhetorical question.

I feel few Americans support fascist intentions. Yet the question is quite relevant when it comes to the current administration and contemporary liberal Democrats.

These are the people promoting something called the Employment Free Choice Act, or Card Check. Passage of Card Check would eliminate the right to vote for or against joining a union through a private ballot. The measure would also undermine the right to freely negotiate contracts.

Passage of Card Check will be a repression of opposition. It will help to produce a vote for unionizing that could be driven by intimidation. That is not democracy. It is fascism. Yet it has become clear that big labor, President Obama and his liberal congressional allies are forging ahead with this power grab.

In a closed-door meeting this past week, President Obama told over 100 top union officials that “we will pass the Employee Free Choice Act.”

The move is an attack on our democratic values and will inflict a destructive impact on our economy.

Proof of that is best demonstrated by the damage inflicted on heavily unionized northern interests in Americas auto industry.

Government controls and liberal unionization has decimated the industry and turned it into one that can only survive with taxpayer funding. That is a drastic contrast from profitable auto maker in the southern U.S. who are not held hostage to unions. That part of the auto sector survives with profits, not deficits.

Despite these facts, Democrats are anxious to see the “Legalized Employee Intimidation Act” get passed.

They are the political beneficiaries of unions and by forcing more industries to unionize Democrats are increasing the wealth of financial contributions that unions donate to them.

What is startling though is the blatant disregard for democracy that Democrats are demonstrating here. They are willing to deny our fundamental right to vote privately and without coercion and they are willing to deny employers and employees the right to negotiate freely.

Fascism is defined as a movement that favors centralized control of private enterprise, extreme nationalism and repression of opposition. Under that definition one can easily see how we can be viewed as moving in that direction. Our government is controlling more and more of the private sector. Our government is nationalizing more and more of our interests and now they are tampering with the principles of the democratic voting rights.

It is time to put the breaks on government actions that will harm our economy anymore than it has already done and it is time to put an end to measures that take us further away from the original intentions of our intended republic.

Join me in signing a petition that asks the “U.S. Congress to ensure that every worker has the right to a secret ballot when deciding whether to organize a union, as well as the right to ratify the contract terms of their employment, rather than be forced to accept a contract through binding arbitration.”

Visit the link provided at the bottom of this post to add your opposition to Card Check and to sign the petition objecting to its passage.

I support this bill.
Jimmy this a BS bill. I hope you are not supporting it at all. It will lead to unions walking right up to people say your supervisor a fellow employee wants to form a union and you dont instead of hiding that fact you know got to vote in public. That is wrong.
actully wiz the sag makes it easyer to be an actor, my dad being an actor and knowing someone else who is
I am against EFCA as it would result in the destruction of medium sized and small bussiness. Its a poor model that will lead to alot of out of work people shifting for jobs in order to abide by the rules. A good example of this is the Screen Actors Guild. Its hard enough getting an acting job. There are only 120,000 members in SAG, because its so hard to get into. Any performer who works as a principal performer for a minimum of one day on a project (film, commercial, TV show, etc.) where the producer has signed a producer's agreement with SAG, and the performer has been paid at the appropriate SAG daily, three-day, or weekly rate is then considered "SAG-Eligible." A SAG-Eligible performer may continue performing in any number of both SAG or non-SAG productions for a period of 30 days, during which that SAG-Eligible performer is classified as a "Taft-Hartley." After the 30-day Taft-Hartley period has expired, the performer may not work on any further SAG productions until the performer joins the Guild by: paying the initiation fee, paying the first half-year minimum membership dues, and agreeing to abide by the Guild's rules and bylaws. The SAG-Eligible performer does not lose their eligibility to join the Guild should they choose not to join the Guild immediately at the expiration of their Taft-Hartley period. However if not part of a union it is difficult to get a speaking role that would comprise the Taft-Hartley law because the producer can be fined for allowing a non union actor to deliver a line. If you don't make a big splash you are screwed. As we see that most movies are using the same actors over and over again, because they are basically grandfathered in. The rules for background performers are even worse requiring minimum number of SAG workers or the producer is not allowed to hire none union workers at all. In fact for commercials its a minimum of 40 SAGS. So unless you have a really big commercial, you are forced to hire SAGS all the time. No wonder Wilford Brimely is the king of Quaker Oats. It has nothing to do with his bad colon.
If the EFC Act would really take power from unuons, why had the AFL-CIO been supporting it for years? http://www.aflcio.org/joinaunion/voiceatwork/efca/
Actually I would point out to Arjay that the GOP does not stop you from forming a union. We just say use the private ballot box. This bill would strip the private ballot box away from people when voting on this issue and would lead to intmidation by unions and management. Thats not right.
Unfortunately Imagine, you have to have a wild imagination to believe that the Employee Freedom of Choice Act empowers working people. The fact of the matter is that it does just the opposite. It takes away their right to vote for or against unions without the fear of intimidation from either side and it denies individuals the right to negotiate for themselves. How you can defend that which promotes tainted elections and blatant power grabs is beyond me. Then again I am not a socialist. I believe in freedom.
I support the employee free choice act, and anything else that puts more power into the nads of the working class, not just in America, but all over the world.
Another wingnut who doesn't know what fascism is. Fortunately, I have Dr. Britt's Fourteen Characteristics of Fascism to bump up.
I dont know that it will pass. This is really a touchy issue with so many right to work states and could totally rejuvinate the GOP. Could back fire on them.
It will. As I said, welcome to the Obmamanation
I would hope that this does not pass.
I agree. Welcome to the Obamanation
