State Leaders Refuse To Let Their States Become Drop-Off destinations for Detained Terrorists

kempite
Today, I received this press release from my favorite New Jersey Assemblyman. He does not represent my district but in time I hope to help him represent all of New Jersey in one capacity or another.

I just wanted to pass this release along for your disection.

-----------------

MORRIS PLAINS—Assemblyman Jay Webber (R-26, Morris & Passaic) will introduce a Resolution to prohibit the transfer and relocation to New Jersey of enemy combatants presently housed in Guantanamo Bay.

In January, President Obama issued an Executive Order to shut down, within one year, the Gauntanamo Bay prison that detains 341 terrorists. With no plan for what to do with the detainees, the Obama administration will attempt to send those inmates to locations within the states. Several states — California, Kansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Virginia — already have passed Resolutions to prevent the relocation of the Gitmo prisoners to their soil.

“New Jersey should never become the drop-off destination for some of the world’s worst terrorists — Khalid Sheik Mohammed, Abu Zubaydah, Ramzi bin al Shibh, and other enemies detained at Gauntanamo,” stated Assemblyman Webber. “With the tragedy of 9/11 remaining fresh in our collective memory, the citizens of New Jersey and New York carry deep scars from the evils of terrorism. This is the last place the administration should house terrorists.”

“New Jersey simply should not be made a clearinghouse for enemy combatants, and I call on my colleagues in the Legislature, and on Governor Corzine, to join me in rejecting any attempt to bring them to the Garden State,” concluded Assemblyman Webber.

wow...I counted like 3-4 times imagine telling us he has to "call his girl"...is this high school?---I also do not believe in time of war trials for enemy combantants should take place. It would be the same trying to put on trial German officers during the Battle of the Bulge. It should be after the fact when all information and evidence is in place.
When will the Gitmo detainees get a trial or tribunal? Since they are not soldiers, they should get a trial. Over 350 detainees and only five have been tried in seven years.
Isn't this just more NOT IN MY BACKYARD politics?
Fair enough....... as I have time
Musicman, I want to make a challenge. I have to go call my girl right now, but here is my challenge. Find your big political poisitions, and find me scripture that supports them. SHOW me that your political beliefs truly are based on Christian values. Private message them to me as soon as you are done. I will do the same. But, alas, I have to go. I gotta clal my girl and I have work way early in the am. Good talking to you. Have a good night.
Take care
You couldn't "school me" on your best day.
Really? Becuase I seem to fucking school you and Rob Diesel on the Bible constantly. You always talk up your conservative positions and biblical values, and off the top of my head, I pull out Bible verses that directly contradict you. Unlike you and Rob, I read the Bible. I don't stand around thumping it. But I'm gonna go call my girl. Good debate. I love confrontation. I pray you'll see the light and come over to the socialist side :) Have a good night musicman.
That means exactly zip.... I know many who can't tell you where John is in the Bible, or what 3:16 says........ or Hebrews 11:1
Yeah, I was a protestant for almost all of my life.
Bullshit, and before even comparing the two you would have to know somthing about at least 1 of the two. Ever hear of the reformation?
No. They are authorized. Those priests were protected by the vatican. And Catholocism is a denomination of Christianity, just like sharia law abiding muslims are a sect of islam.
Maybe socialists should get off their collective, behinds and do for themselves what they want the government to do for them. Ouch, Doesn't feel good when hate filled comments are used to bash your political ideology for its uselessness.
I'm not Catholic asshole, and Catholics aren't authorized to rape christians................. that would be the Islamics who follow sheria law pumpkin
Maybe priests are sick of boys and all the little girls are busy being raped after CCD. Ouch, right? Doesn't feel good when someone bashes your religion for rape, does it?
Accept that Nazi Enemy comatants we had a decloration of war against after Germany declared war on the US. As for the blin shiek it showed how our justice system worked to the whole world. As for those at GITMO they have not even had the right to challenge or see the evidance agains them. This is something that our founding fathers fought for against the King of England. As for the US being at war with Radical Islam. We seem to pick and choose were we go and turn a blind eye when we want to. I can further into this but it I only have 3 minutes before the library closes so alas this is my final statement on this for now.
Huh , you mean state leaders don't want to import new and exicting terriosts into their state.................. how goush!!!! you'd think they would at least offer Americas daughters to be raped. What IS this country coming too?
We certainly have "super max" facilities but would we have placed or even considered placing imprisoned Nazi enemy comatants in those civilian facilities? As for the example of the blind shiek, Abdel Rahkman. At the time, we were not at war with the islamic terrorist jihadi elememt. we should have been but we weren't and we did not accept the fact that we should have been at war them until after 9/11 demonstrated how misguided we were in taking these terrorists so seriously. I think a lot of this comes down to perception. If one still does not take the islamic jihad that has been declared against seriously, they do not elevate the containment of enemy terrorist combatants to a level that requires anything more than a civilian prison cell. I take it seriously and I believe that such a containment facility for these individuals at out military base in Guantanamo was appropriate.
They don't have any rights in Rob's opinion. hahah. Too bad your opinion doesn't carry the weight of international law, Rob. The geneva conventions are international law and they guarantee rights to prisoners of war uniformed or not. I know you hate habeus corpus and due process, and love torture, but I'm sorry. The law is the law.
My brother and my father both work at the state prison here in Texas. They can both vouch that there are seriously more dangerous inmates in their prisons than any of these terrorists. For conservatives to state that our prison system is inadequate to house these alleged terrorists is insulting to the men and women that work in our US prison system. They are very aware of the dangers that these men bring with them because they deal with dangerous human beings already on a daily basis. If we can not trust our own prison system to take care of these Gitmo detainees; then why do we trust them for the prisoners they currently are responsible for? The logic behind not having these detainees in our own prison system is ridiculous; and it is obviously only based on high emotions. I understand that we do not like these people because of what they have done, or planned to do; but that does not change the skills or competency of our prison staff........Needless to say, I have complete faith in our prison system to adequately and efficiently house these detainees without incident.......Arch.
The Japs did have rights you are mistaken they had rights under the Geneva Code as they wore uniforms. I also believe that we have super max facilities? I think that those would work just fine.
ok so what did us criminalizing the terrorist acts accomplish? The didnt call for jihad against us, like now. If we are gonna put them in prison, I say put them in prison at Rikers or San Quentin...They are enemy combantants and they dont have any rights in my opinion...the Japanese didnt have rights in WW2 and neither should islamofacists
Actually Rob we did put the 1st attackers of the World Trade Center before a US Court and a jury found him guilty. That was the Blind Shiek. As for those at GITMO they should be allowed to the right to challenge the charges pointed at them. Personally I think Miliatery Courts can do this just fine.
so what do you think we should do erock...I love Gitmo and I believe we need to expand it. If we as a nation put these monsters up in front of jury and judge, then the judge will be marked for death and so would the jury by these extemists.
I can agree I may disagree with GITMO and what has gone on down their but simply putting them in regular prisons is not the answer.
