LIFE OR ABORTION; WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT?

There are many topics I would like to discuss today.

Republicans have a new political leader.

Our government has increased our debt and used the cover of economic crisis to rob us blind by allocating hundreds of billions of dollars to things that will do anything but stimulate and improve the economy.

Somalia continues to become a stronghold of and safe haven for terrorism and with little experience President Barack Obama faces many dire challenges for our nation.

Yet today I choose to discuss something a little less complicated.

Life.

Yeah, if only life was was less complicated, but as we know, it is not.

Neither is the question of when life begins.

Personally, as a man, I know one thing. I will never be in the position that a woman will be in. My body will never be the shelter for a life. That is a fact that has constantly made me leery of staking a position on abortion.

I am not God and I do not for a moment think that I have all the answers so I will not tell you that life begins at conception. I will not tell a woman what she can do to her own body, yet I am still uncertain about whether it is right to abort a life at any stage.

I do know that I am glad that I shall not have the responsibility to make that decision on my own.

I can’t help but feel that if I were a woman and I had an abortion, I might always carry a sense of guilt around with me. I can’t help but wonder if I would be wracked by the guilt of thinking that I possibly snuffed out a human life.

I don’t know. I just don’t know.

What I do know is, that when in doubt, I personally feel I would rather err on the side of life than death. One is more final than the other and one offers more hope and promise than the other.

I have always felt that way and I often think about it. I often wonder if I were a legislator, and I had the responsibility to place a vote on the issue, what would I do?

Would I go with my conscience and err on the side of life by prohibiting abortion?

Would I pull an Obama and vote “not present” or maybe, as a representative, I would just vote the will of the majority of the people that I was representing.

I wish I were confident to say which way I would vote, but as of now, I am not sure.

However I recently came across this video. NBC decided not to air it during the superbowl because they feel it is too political.

I ask you to take a look at it.

If you have any sense of compassion, like me, than you might just be brought closer to a decision……like me.

I saw the add. it implied that pro-choiceers are anti-life. Not true. Pro-lifers are anti-choice.
Except for the undoubtedly inane comments of erock and JimmyCarter, who never merit any attention, I viewed the other comments posted here. In typical fashion, many of the conclusions reached were expected. Some even accused me of being a right to lifer. Perhaps a reading comprehension course should be offered on u4prez because, if one could comprehend, they would easily see that I am torn by the issue of abortion and have not been able to reach a public position that I can endorse on. My personal decision is not the question, Personally I, like many others am against abortion, but the question becomes where does abortion enetr into the public policy forum. Perhaps the most interesting comments came from my friend KT2020. Not only do I find her arguments to have their own merit, as a woman her opinion on this issue may be even more valid than my own. What I did find interesting was her blowing off arguments against abortion because of the emotional component. That was very interesting. Based on that argument Barack Obama should not be President. He ran a campaign based on emotions. Hope and inspiration were the cornerstone of his campaign........"Yes, we can.....Yes, we can"........ One can say that emotions should not have an impact on issues but try to remove emotions from anything that people care about. It can't be done. But beyond emotion are facts and facts are outlined in this ad. If those facts create an emotional response, does that mean they are not facts? What I found most intriguing by this whole ad was the creative use of Obama's own theme of hope. This ad took hope and applied it to Obama and even used hope against him. For that, after taking emotion out of it, this ad, is to me, a work of political genius. The creator of this political ad needs to be hired for any campaign that wants to win.
That is a far cry from saying "let them eat pills" ya clown. So what if she did? The money was yanked so its over for now isn't? Thats like yesterday's news.
The Democratic leader defended plans in the government's $825 billion (£600 billion) economic stimulus package to reimburse states for contraceptives and other family planning services given out as part of the Medicaid programme for people who cannot afford health insurance. Mrs Pelosi said that "contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government". Mrs Pelosi, the mother of five children and grandmother to six, did not spell out exactly how fewer babies would help the economy. But she told ABC television: "The family planning services reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. "One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government," she said in an interview on Sunday on ABC's This Week.
No she didnt Wiz.
Didn't Nancy Pelosi tell us. LEt them eat birth control pills. We don't need your rabble. Welcome to China.
I do not know how you are okay with government dictating what a government can tell someone to do or not to do with something as personal as this.
Oh and kemp i watched your video- while i know some people will get all emotional about it- I wont. that is my issue with the pro-life argument- they resort to emotional arguments. now when the left does that we are called spineless especially when we use it in the context of war. I am not a cold hearted person- but this ad is used to get an emotional reaction.
I want a real source- not a video that features Alan keyes. you realize that video was made by a group called- no hussein.org the site does not exist anymore. if this is really true then there will be more reputable links tho this kind of information. it isnt always about providing a link- it is about finding a credible one.
heres your link kt. its been about 5 months since i saw this. so some of what i said is ever so slightly different. so its not 24 weeks, but 22. thats still 22 weeks after birth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYRpIf2F9NA
quit puting the titles of your crappy blogs in all caps
Wow. sorry about the numerous typos in my reply. I been up for 24 hours. im goin to bed now.
Of course you would want to discuss "life". You're a member of the Right to Life Party. "Life" is the reason your guy lost the election by 10 million votes. With 2 wars, a depression and a melting planet, people like Obama bumped abortion to the bottom of the list...mostly because the supreme court made a decision 35 years ago thathas held up despite countless attacks. Just because we're pro-choic doesn't mean we're anti-life. It means we dont feel that it is our right to create a law that dictates what a woman can and can't do with her reproductive system. We should change the choise to "pro-choice" and "antu-choice" because really what prof-lifers want is to take away a woman's choice. Give the abortion thing arrest. Mayeb your political party wouldn't suck if you guys talked about things other than abortion and the gays.
"at least use the pull out method" Gah. As the U4Prez Secretary of Health and Human Services, I am obligated to point out that "pulling out" is a very poor form of birth control and can result in unwanted pregnancies.
NDFan- for the love of all things please find me a source that says they killed a baby 24 weeks after it had been born- please. you are entitled to your opinion but letting a woman die for the sake of a child is just going too far and the rape exception i thought was a no brianer- rape is forced upon you- you did not make that decision and yes that act can haunt you for the rest of your life you should not have to have the burden of delivering a child that was forced on you iu respect the pro-life cause- i do not agree but i see its merits even if some of you are pro war and death penalty- but if you are going to spout off ridiculous claims please be ready to back them up.
I invite everyone to read an article I wrote on this subject, it is on my blog list entitled "Rethinking Pro-Life". And for my money, the only man in my lifetime I can honestly say was pro-life was Pope John Paul II. Being against abortion does not make you pro-life. Being against abortion, AND against the death penalty, AND against war, does. Picking and choosing which life to save is not pro-life. Dismissing the deaths of women and children in a war as collateral damage is not pro-life. Making an argument for state-sponsored murder is not pro-life. It's a swell read, I invite you all to have a look-see.
i am extremely pro-life. and although i know they call it pro-choice, i still think of it as pro-death because they are letting innocent lives be tortured. thats right tortured. its not a quick process. the fetus has a mind. as soon as the fetus starts growing inside of the womb is when its considered a life, because it is growing like every other baby, toddler, adolescent, etc. people fail o recognize it as a life only because it is inside rather than outside of the womb. i do think in certain circumstances its ok, but i started thinking that women will still live with the nightmare of rape and incest forever and ever. people are constantly looking for infants to adopt but are running out of places. if you dont want your own flesh and blood, give the child up for adoption. if the mother is going to die, well shes already lived a life, the child hasnt gotten a chance yet. i know these 3 circumstances people feel are the only reason, and they are all going to chew me out for it, but my philosophy is that anybody that hasnt done anything illegal deserves life, especially if they havent seen the outside world. now what obama does literally made me throw up when i saw it. everytime i saw it, it made me so sick to my stomach, i had to stop it early. what he supports is insane. in fact he was the only senator to vote for it...not once but 3 times. and its perfectly legal. babies that have been failed abortion attempts. ok well obama supports those babies being taken to a room up to 24 WEEKS after birth and injecting them with some fluid. these babies are tortured. they did nothing to deserve this. there life was attempted to be taken away once inside of the womb, now up to 24 week later they are tortured again. what they endure is worse than a mother going through child birth, its that painful to them. its called adoption. and i still dont know why people dont get the concept that if they want to have sex before marriage (which is bad in the first place moral and religious wise) and decide to skip the condom and birth control pill, then you should expect a baby. no ifs ands or buts. no excuses. if you dont want a baby, at least use the pull out method for gods sake. but dont kill a freakin innocent life
