I hear a lot of conservatives claiming that Barack Obama is oppressing the population. I'd like to know how. Today, Kempite told me that people that believe Obama is oppressing the population are not crazy as I had said they are. Kempite went on to say that there is a feeling that Obama is oppressing America just as King George oppressed the Colonists before the Revolutionary War. Sorry, but I have to call batshit like I see it.
So folks, I implore you. If you believe Obama is the King George tyrant so many claim he is, please explain why. Please explain why I am less free or more oppressed now than I was on December 31, 2008.

Taliasin, I was making a joke concerning MSNBC and the fact that noone watches their network. I understood your post. And, to FnG, I know you would like to think that Obama has saved the world from a total meltdown but, I wouldn't get to far ahead of yourself. The fact that economy is starting to bottom out is due to the normal cycle, not Obama. only 6% of the Obama stimulus has been spent. The stimulus bill was for the dems to use next year to keep their seats. I would also keep an eye on the commercial real estate market, and the fact that the dollar will be worth about 2 cents very soon. Now Obama has decided to start a trade war with China. Maybe we should wait to fight China until after we have paid down some of the debt they own. I know, you believe in Obama, I know I am a right wing loon, I know Obama is the one who will save us from ourselves. I heard it all so save yourself some time and don't post a comment about how great Obama is. Now I am sure you will say that Obama has "saved" millions of jobs just as Obama has made that claim, well I say that the private sector has saved 75 million jobs. So, the private sector wins!

The fact that the economy is turning around doesn't mean it isn't in tough shape. But it's headed north, there's little doubt about that. But what about dem Bills? C'mon folks, the Bills stand about as much chance of beating the odds tonight as the Republicans have of winning the next general election.

Hey, the economy is picking up! That is positive. Everybody is very angry. It's understandable. It's unfortunate that Obama had to take such measures as he's had to. But the blame rests squarely on the Bush administration, which presided over the biggest ripoff this country has ever seen, and no amount of confoundedly stupid anti-Obama rhetoric changes that. Obama has helped restore confidence, and without confidence, we can't move forward. And this, depite the Repubican party's best efforts to destroy confidence in the Obama administration. Tough shit, boys. Obama is actually fixxing the economy.
How about spending more in 8 months than "king Bush" did in 8 yrs and two wars? That as friday pointed out the next generations must pay for?
How about trying to force the veterans to buy insurance to cover medical costs for battle incurred wounds?

By trying to pass a healthcare bill that forces me to pay for abortions and insurance for illegal aliens while causing me to lose my own private health insurance. By trying to raise taxes on foods and things I enjoy every day. By trying to pass cap and trade taxes that will increase my energy costs by thousands of dollars. By sending his cronies out to declare me a racist and by calling me and millions of Americans who agree with me a liar in his speech to Congress. By working diligently to destroy our nation's protections that have been built up over the past 8 years. Should I keep going? By the way, how did Bush oppress you?

U know the founding fathers also supported making money, limited government, and private property. Funny how u cherry pick what u like about the founding fathers. Add to it has Obama ended the Patriot act lowered the national debt at all? right let me know when that happens.
I think Obama is oppressing the population. I think that Bush was too. As far as being like King George (and lets not forget the "Parliament" Congress that also helps to keep liberty down). We need to remember that British Tax Policies in the Colonies were not bad in terms of cost. I was actually cheaper to buy tea with the tax than to buy smuggled tea. The colonists revolted because they had the wisdom to see that the small taxes then would be a foot in the door for later where more money and freedom would be lost. So they declared independence. I view much of Bush's foriegn policy such as the invasion of Iraq to have at least at one time thought of by some of the planners as a foot in the door to get to Iran. I view Obama's healthcare plans to be a foot in the door too. Although those who say it is no full socialism are correct, it will allow us to move closer to socialized medicine in the future when either Obama or the next guy's (or girl's) plans come in. If you think that people are wrong to oppose Obama for this reason, then you cannot justify the colonists' leaving Britain without contradicting yourself. And if you do not think that you are oppressed by Obama, then you can't complain about Bush. They did the same to grow government and shrink the citizen. With Obama already having outdone his predecessor.
If our taxes go up ... I would say that is less freedom from government control over our lives. So far ... my taxes have not gone up .... but I thought that Bush was like King George and I don't think Obama is any different.
