Unemployment While Not as Bad Still Goes Up to 9.5%

erock
Well I am sure that the White House will have nothing but positive spin about the numbers from last month. But the fact is the private sector cut 467,000 some jobs much deeper then was expected. But the number jumps to 16.5% if we include those who have given up looking for work or have taken part time jobs. Either way you cut it the numbers are still bad and economists expect the unemployment rates to up even further. Mean while Congress is running up the tab on spending on over sea's trips and some on the left are talking about a second stimulus package. That is not the answer at all.

This is what the job market looked like in terms of cuts or hiring compared to the previous month:

Professional and business services slashed 118,000 jobs, more than double the 48,000 cut in May

Manufacturers cut 136,000, down from 156,000

Construction companies got rid of 79,000 jobs, up from 48,000 the previous month

Retailers eliminated 21,000, up from 17,600

Financial activities cut 27,000, following 30,000 in May

The government cut 52,000 jobs, up from 10,000 the previous month

Leisure and hospitality cut 18,000 jobs, erasing a gain of the same size in May

Education and health services, which added 34,000 positions last month and 47,000 in May

So while some of the cuts where not as deep as expected the fact is they still took place. Some other factors for the economy is that people are saving the money they got from the Obama package and big construction projects really don't start until next year. So the pain will go on. But now you have some on the left talking about another stimulus package which so far is just talk but for how long?

Mean while California which is the world's 8th largest economy is still reeling from its massive budget hole. It is handing out IOUs so this will have a drag on the US economy as well. Mean while the US National debt is rising and Congress is taking more trips and spending more on them last year according to the Wall Street Journal Congress spent 13 million on over seas trips which is a 50% increase sense the Democractic majority took over. So while the average American is struggling to find work Congress is having a field day.

So what should be done? Well if we want to turn this mess around enough is enough with Government spending and reliance. It is time to cut the budget, slash taxes, pay off the national debt, and get the nation moving. The way things are now with the President spending, spending, spending, more regulation which liberals never talk about the billions it takes to comply with it all add on all the Czars and other burocrats that the government has been adding and you have the US economy stagnating to its death. Even the American people are starting to doubt that what the President is doing is the correct course o yes they like him personally but look at his policies and the numbers take a huge drop. It time to reject the liberal spending policies that do nothing but rack up the national debt and instead trust the American people with their money.

F&G stop making excuses for the Obama administration. Me and millions of Americans who are without jobs are trying our best to find a job. U are 100% clueless how tough the job market is right not. Stop drinking Obama's cool aid.
FNG- uneployment was 10% at the beginning of all of this last year?? I dont believe it was. Your buddy Odumbo promised if his stimulus was passed it wouldnt go past 8%-Wrong!!! Your buddy Odumbo wants Cap and Trade which would move thousands of jobs to India and China. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE SOCIALISM. As a republican you are doing a fine job being a apologist for the ObamaMAO campaign
or join the air force, or navy if you're gay
Learn how to install solar panels. Learn how to fix new cars. Learn how to fix a freaking dripping faucet. There's a ton of ways to make money. This is America. And if you really realluy cannot find a job, move somewhere where you can. Adapt.
Erock, if you find a job, then I guess Obama hasn't failed. Good luck!
Erock are you eligible to join the military. I joined the Air Force back in 1980 when there were ZERO jobs for a guy like me. I never collected a dime in unemployment in my life because I always found a job one way or another.
So hopefull that works out other wise I will be keeping up my search for jobs. And I will find some time to attack the President and his failed policies.
I have an interview next wk for a part time gig at a museume in town I am hoping it goes well.
Come to Kansas... I could have a job tomorrow if I needed one. It may not be the job I want but it would be a job.
How bout plain old laboring?
F&G I have lots of skills the problem is their are no jobs. Maryland, VA, and DC all have high unemployment rates. And YES I am trying my hardest! I am working every contact, job bank etc. etc. that I know.
Whoooo hoooo I think I hit a tender spot. I'm sorry Erock, I'm sure you're trying your hardest. Do you have any skills aside from politics?
F&G U Fucking idiot! I spend my days on line going through job banks! Get a clue before you open your mouth!
Ohhhhhhhh, ouch
Erock if you are unemployed, whart the fuck are you doing sitting around writing blogs all day long, go get a fucking job, fool.
I still want F&G to explain why I should be patience along with millions of other Americans?
No what we will have is a depression, we are well on the way now. Then perhaps after we give up to global interests to save our people we will be OK? Waky, Waky, smell the coffee
Americans should have more paitience mean while collection agencies are calling left and right? People are losing their homes after losing their jobs? Lets hope 2012 comes soon.
F&G I have been unemployed for 7 months now and I have bills stacking up so as do millions of Americans. U see positives? Have u lost touch with reality??? WHAT FUCKING positives? He promised we needed to rush through his massive stimulus package to save millions of jobs WTF? All that did was increase the national debt!
Americans need to have a little paitience for once in our spoiled lives. Most people are OK with it, but jeeeeeezzzuuuuus h chrissssst there sure is alot of whining.
Friday, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. FAR worse! 647k aot 600k? Big whoopity doodle. They had unemployemt above 10% from the very beginnings of this downturn. NOBODY ever promised a turn-aeround in employment during this phase.

FnG, these numbers are far worse than what was expected.
that was weird.....
Well, these numbers are exactly what was expected, give or take a little here and there. NOBODY ever said we'd be outta this thing by summer. The government has been exceptionally proactive and that .... despite the philosophical horseshit ..... is exactly our best chance for economic recovery at this conjecture. So far, I don't see any real hidden agenda, things are getting done by consensus. I lik,e what I see in the re-emerging America. This will probably start about the ened of the year. Christmas will be a big deal this year and there will be spending. But even if not - no big deal, slow and steady. I don't see anything but positives coming out of Washington these days and I kinda like that. And Republicans are playing a part. Obama can't get re-elected unless he captures the moderate "Obamacans" like myself. I like this guy more and more. He's handling things pretty well.

NO FRIDAY...IT IS STILL BUSHIE'S FAULT....IT WILL ALSO BE HIS FAULT DURING THE 2012 ELECTION
Obama isn't the right president. He isn't doing the right things, just like many presidents who we don't know, but the fact that he's the first black president means that he willl be loved, unless he does something really bad [like now] in which case he might not be remembered. The fact that Americans cared/voted for him because he would be the first black president shows that Americans aren't as nonbiased as they wish they could be.
Has Obama lost his magic touch? In May he created or saved 150,000 jobs. Using the same benchmark (how many jobs less than 500,000 were lost each month) he only created or saved 37,000 in June. That's a 75% drop in job growth for Obama.
I agree Rob and people are starting to side with the GOP on this.
ohh yea...because the government can really show fact of him saving jobs....lol
Umm or that he could save millions of jobs?
didnt Obama promise us that uneployment, after that stimulus, wouldnt go past 8%??
